Pub in the Park 2026… you were an absolute beauty 🩶

A couple of weeks later and I’m still smiling about this one.

From meeting the legendary James Martin, to discovering some fantastic food vendors, Pub in the Park delivered exactly what it does best: great food, great music and a brilliant atmosphere.

One of the highlights of the day was joining the Kamado Joe Chef’s Table, where Chef Luke Vandore-Mackay served up a delicious three course fire-cooked menu featuring Lyme Bay scallop, burnt beetroot and stuffed lamb saddle. Every bite was packed with flavour & absolutely delicious! A brilliant reminder that some of the best food experiences are often the simplest - great ingredients cooked really, really well.

And then there was the music…

Watching Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra close the evening, featuring Roachford and Ruby Turner. The perfect way to end the day. Good food, a drink in hand and thousands of people dancing along as the sun went down.

What more could you want?

This isn’t just a tasting menu in Oxfordshire…

This is Ollie’s vision, five years in the making.

From the moment I spoke to @olliewilliamm on the phone, I knew @le.petit.doigt was going to be something different. There’s an energy to him - a quiet confidence, but also a real passion and attention to detail that you don’t come across all that often.

And it shows. In everything.

From menus printed on beautiful parchment, to the way each course is introduced, to the fact that pieces of the restaurant itself - beams, materials and history have all been carefully repurposed and woven back into the experience. Nothing feels accidental.

I was lucky enough to be one of the first to dine here and it genuinely felt like stepping into something special.

The food? Exceptional.

Thoughtful, creative, and beautifully executed throughout. Every course felt considered and intentional.

Standout favourites? John May’s Parfait – I love parfait, but I’ve never had one like this before. And the Oxfordshire beef… I had high expectations here, and it absolutely delivered.

But what really sets this apart isn’t just the food. Or even the fact you’ll enjoy 10+ courses of beautifully crafted dishes.

It’s the feeling.

That sense that you’re part of something built with care, patience, and real pride. A restaurant that hasn’t just opened. It’s been crafted over time with a clear vision.

This place is special.

There’s something about the small plates and wine bar vibe here that makes it so easy to settle in and order just one more dish… and then another. From charcuterie and croquettes to Korean chicken wings and beautifully cooked lamb, every plate was packed with flavour.

@chefbullen really knows what he’s doing.

Great food, great wine and great company, all topped off with the loveliest little birthday surprise at the end… plus a cheese called ‘Rachel’ 🫶

I love places like this; relaxed, full of atmosphere and serving food that makes you want to stay all evening.

I recently enjoyed an evening @ox_two_ for a friend’s birthday celebration.

I’ve known Head Chef @chef_johnnyparke for a long while and have visited all his restaurants; so I know what a great chef he is…

But…yet again he had LEVELLED UP with the food he is serving @ox_two_

Absolutely packed with flavour and top class ingredients. Most people know that ‘Rachel doesn’t share food’ but the tapas style morsels of heaven are well worth sharing for an evening.

The vibe @ox_two_ is just as delicious as the food.

If you haven’t sampled @chef_johnnyparke food then I suggest you get yourself to @ox_two_ pronto before he gets fully booked - I hear he’s won another award this week 😉

I sampled the new ‘Amalfi Coast’ taster menu last night and it’s genuinely one of the best I’ve had at SIX! ♥️

Last Christmas I made an ENORMOUS batch of this stuff and gifted it to all my loved ones…

This year; I don’t have the time. So I’ll be making it for self consumption only…🤪

If you’re not making it for the 5000, it’s incredibly simple and tastes like drops of Christmas 🎄

Here’s how…

Christmas pudding vodka recipe🎄

Ingredients
300g mixed dried fruit (sultanas, currants, raisins)
75g caster sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
2 tsp ground mixed spice
6 cloves
½ whole nutmeg, finely grated
1 orange, zest only, finely grated
1 unwaxed lemon, zest only, finely grated
750ml/1 pint bottle good quality vodka

🎄Mix together all dry ingredients. Put into a large sterilised jug/jar/bowl
🎄Pour over vodka and cover
🎄Leave in fridge for 3 days, stirring daily
🎄Line a sieve with a fine muslin and place over a large, clean jug. Pour the dried fruit and vodka mixture into the sieve and allow to drip through into the jug.
🎄Pour into a sterilized bottle

Enjoy with tonic, cranberry or straight up!

The first time I’ve visited since it changed from a walk in cafe to a pre book cafe/restaurant- really lovely menu, lots of GF & vegan options. The same great ingredients. The same great flavours. All served in the gorgeous, cozy yurt.

I finally sat inside their cafe this week and sampled their brunch menu and it was to die for! Full of goodness and packed with flavour!

The lovely Rachel from @foodwithrooandboo and @rooskitchen.uk went along to @cotswoldsbaking on behalf of @theoxfordshirefoodie to learn how to make doughnuts from scratch under Susie’s tuition. She’s an experienced baker but this was new territory even for her, here’s what she had to say!

“I loved watching the dough slowly bubbling on its underside until it was flipped showing the gorgeous brown it had turned. The best part, getting to try a fresh doughnut straight out of the fryer that had been tossed in sugar! That freshly fried doughnut was a thing of beauty and the best I have ever eaten.”

This review is very overdue due to an incredibly busy schedule recently but I couldn’t miss out on telling you about this cool little pop up in Chipping Norton; located on the Cornwell Estate.

2 chef brothers have left the city to start a passion project in the countryside. They are creating fabulous flavoursome street food over an open fire and the FLAVOURS are seriously good.

The food was a great example of the magic that happens in your mouth when you put expert flavours and ingredients into traditional recipes. Anyone who knows me knows I am a BIG fan of a sandwich. I literally have one most days but this was a sandwich ON ANOTHER LEVEL.

This weekend they will be popping up at @daylesfordfarm for their harvest festival!

They have 3 weeks left of this stint but there will hopefully be future pop ups so make sure you follow them and check their website for details of opening times @pitkitchencotswolds

I had a great evening at the opening night of @thepartandparcel on Thursday evening.
